What might take 20 minutes in a typical recipe ends up being 2 hours. But if you're done watching cartoons, all hopped up on coffee, and prepared to let your kitchen look like a flour bomb exploded in it---then strap on an apron and try this delicious homemade apple pie with your darling tot!

| Before, during, after... Don't you love this pie plate?! Got it in the home section @ Anthropologie. |
(from the cookbook Mad Hungry: Feeding Men and Boys by Lucinda Scala Quinn, who is also the executive Food Director @ Martha Stewart Omnimedia, btw)
This recipe is not "speedy" but the extra time it takes to prepare is totally worth it--the Mr. and I have convinced ourselves that it's relatively good for us too (An apple a day and all that jazz!)
A sensory enjoyment experience for the whole family...

| Let them eat...pie! |

Now that looks super yummy!
ReplyDeleteIf it were slightly less yummy, it would be easier to resist! Too bad, more zumba :)
DeleteThat looks really good! And you are so right...cooking with a 3 year old (mine is two) is a pain...for sure!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I look at it like a fun art project that I will later get to eat! (better than those macaroni necklaces we made as kids :)
DeleteMy husband loves pie. I however am not that great at making them! Maybe I will try one...someday! Stopping by from SITS!
ReplyDeleteThis recipe is from a cookbook about how to feed men--My Mr. was skeptical (I am not always the best cook) but he managed to eat 2/3 of it (with ice cream...) I am sure it will be a big hit!
