In New York City you're not just a ballerina, you're a ballerina who's also a financial trader, a filmmaker who's also a tuba player and house painter, a special ed teacher who's also in a country band. One such mega-talented friend recently turned me on to a beauty product with similar attributes:
Laura Mercier's Bonne Mine...

This $48 multi-tasking color palette from Ms. Mercier is touted as her go-to compact for celeb clients looking for a healthy, "no-makeup glow that looks soft and sun-kissed". The kit includes bronzer, cheek and glow "veils" and I can't wait to dab them all on in my little front seat makeover session before hitting the sidelines of Kindergarten soccer!
I'm no movie star (duh, it's 10:48 PM and I am sapping vital beauty sleep tapping away at this keyboard), but I'll take a Flawless Face anyway, thank you very much. Keep your discreetly placed scripts tucked into not-so-shy It bags, Starbuck's paparazzi runs and mildly inappropriate Boy Toys--I've got PTA dates, taekwondo belt tests and Halloween parades to organize. Bonne Mine and I are going places this fall--you can count on it, sweethearts.
Maybe me and Julia Roberts aren't so different, after all...

I want to be a ballerina.
ReplyDeleteDear Blond Duck,
ReplyDeleteI want to be a ballerina too! And I figured out how--Halloween!! Let's dress up and compare tiaras. xo
oh man, I LOVE that ballerina picture. So gorgeous. I like multi-tasking makeup too, but I have yet to find any that works with my super-pale yet ruddy skin. The fun of being a redhead ;)
ReplyDeleteLIFE magazine from the 1950's--always cool for inspirational photos! I will keep a lookout for redhead/makeup must-have ideas (a potential blog post, so stay tuned here, thanks Kristin!!)
ReplyDeleteIsn't everyone a multi personality? I'm a high school math teacher novelist who published The Mindstalker on Kindle Saturday! Nice blog. Have a great SITS Day. Off to conquer Algebra and Geometry and Financial Algebra one blog at a time.
ReplyDeleteWow! I don't know about everyone, but you sure cover the spectrum! Congrats on The Mindstalker! Thank you for reading Speed Chic (no math allowed here, unless it's calculating the SALE price of a cute pair of shoes!)
DeleteStopping by from SITS! You're so right about always being more than one thing in this city- it's amazing and stressful all at the same time!
ReplyDeleteNYC is a special, exciting, exhausting place. Hope you are having fun and thank you for reading Speed Chic!
DeleteThat's funny, that's what happens in my little city. My Girls and I joke that job descriptions read like "Back office medical assistant with a degree in Psychology and the ability to tune a Mack truck in less than 5 minutes - starting pay $8.00/hr." LOL! Enjoyed your post - I wandered over from SITS.
ReplyDeleteHa! We've got skills no one can take from us! Thank you for reading Speed Chic!
DeleteIsn't it something? That's what I love about us women... our power! How most of us can be and do one thousand things (okay, so I exaggerate a little), do them well and keep it all together is what separates the big girls from the little girls.
ReplyDeleteI really like this post. Oh, and Laura Mercier's products are also nothing to sneeze at.
Happy SITS Day!
Somedays I am better at keeping it together than others--but I certainly intend to have fun trying! Thank you for reading Speed Chic!
DeleteHappy SITs day! Love reading about New York and the vibe...before kiddos (the old days) we were big travel bugs but hadn't made it to NYC. Thanks for the sneak peek. Hope to make it one day with kiddos in tow.
ReplyDeleteWhy not! I have yet to take mine, and we're only an hour away--but already they somehow know about FAO Schwartz--huh?? Thank you for reading Speed Chic!
DeleteLove the picture of the ballerinas in New York and the post! Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading Speed Chic, Teresa!
DeleteThis looks like a great palate; whenever I go to the store and ask for some neutral everyday stuff I end up with more stuff I don't use...Need to start painting my face daily :)
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS :)
Thanks for stopping by!
