Shop Your Closet!

Dear The Mr.,
I saved a lot of money today, so I picked up a teeny bit of sparkle on the way home from the drycleaner...

In the spirit of global economy, Speed Chic is shopping her closet this week, and bringing the busy mommy 5 Fab Fashion Moments!

Look #1: Summer Wedding

I bought this Kate Spade taffeta bow dress to wear to a wedding last August in Denmark, and have worn it for numerous events since. It's fun to go festive with bright pink then tone down the party with graphic black and white accessories--shown here with a JCrew wrap (better than a stodgy cardi) and black polka dot Kate Spade sling backs.

Look #2: Weekend Bar-B-Que

Enjoy being beach-bound in this cute JCrew cotton print dress--I love it because it's fitted up top but with a breezy skirt so I can actually eat some burgers and not have anyone ask me when my third child is due (not today, my dears, not today).  A Kate Spade striped cotton sun hat keeps the wrinkles at bay, and rope & canvas espadrilles elongate my legs (but are walkable on grass and sand, unlike high heels).

Look #3: 4th of July Parade

This summer, I volunteered at our 4th of July neighborhood parade--These shorts with seams and pockets from LOFT and matching tie-dyed-esque tank were party perfect. The gold Haviannas added some bling and my fabulous Prada (grabbed at an end-of-summer sale last year) blue-printed tote carried everything from sparklers to bug spray.

Look #4: PTA Meeting

Can you believe it's only July and we've already had our first PTA meeting?? I wore skinny khakis with a little stretch from Anthropologie, a gauzy cardigan (also Anthro) and a fresh white matte sequined tank from JCrew. I love the little ombre-dyed orange/purple clutch (you can get the last ones at LOFT right now on mega-sale)--exactly the right size to hold my "French Martini" lipstick by Faces London for JCrew and my cell. Just had to slip on these denim Miu Miu flats, and I was practically Chairwoman of the Board!

Look #5: Charity Event

Nothing is as lovely as a heart that gives back (especially in my favorite leaf print sheath by Michael Kors) And these reptile metallic Manolos?? A STEAL from my local thrift store, topped off with a vintage Prada satin clutch--I'll take my beauty on the inside and the outside (and my salad dressing just on the side, please...)
